School closure Letter (19.03.2020)

19th March 2020

Dear Parents / Carers

As you heard yesterday on the news, technically schools will be closed from Friday 20th March for the majority of pupils, until further notice. We will send home packs of information with the children today and tomorrow, which will include log-in details and website information. Work will be available on the school’s websites and will be updated at least weekly – so please keep logging in.

Marlbrook and St Martin’s WILL REMAIN OPEN for specific groups of children. As the numbers requiring provision is fewer at Little Dewchurch, the school will close and children will attend Marlbrook School, where their staff will be based.

The purpose of remaining open at Marlbrook and St Martin’s is to ensure we can provide lessons and support for the more vulnerable children (children with assigned Social Workers, children with Education Plans and for children of front-line staff). We will continue to run breakfast club from 7.40am. There will be no after school clubs nor kids club for the rest of this term, but we are trying to work on staffing Kids Club for after the Easter holidays.

Front line staff includes the following professions and jobs, but isn’t exhaustive so please telephone the school office if you are unsure : Police, fire-fighters, ambulance staff, school employees, care workers, delivery drivers, any other health service staff , social care employees.

Whilst both schools remain open, this is a service that we are providing for the children and families that need it. Some parents have already notified us to say they have childcare provision in place so will not need to bring the children to school – that is absolutely fine. AiP will still be providing hot and cold lunches for children in school.

Children who are entitled to receive free school meals will be provided with a voucher to purchase lunches for the next 2 weeks. I will continue doing this if we remain closed after the Easter holidays.

I will continue to be in school, so please contact me if you have any concerns, worries of questions.

Best wishes and thank you for your patience & support whilst we continue to make arrangements.
