PE and Sports
Physical Education at Little Dewchurch is based on the philosophy of ‘Sport for All’, with the emphasis on health related fitness. All children participate in a wide variety of individual and group activities covering the main National Curriculum areas of gymnastics (including apparatus work), dance, athletics, games and swimming. The school is equipped with apparatus in the village hall and outdoor spaces. During the year, children represent the school in tournaments and also compete against other schools in a wide range of sports, e.g. football, rugby, orienteering, rounders and netball. In the Summer term all children take part in a Sports Day (weather permitting!).
The school often invites visiting coaches and PE experts to work with the children and these have recently involved basketball, football, rugby, gym, and dance workshops. A programme of activities is on offer, dependent on staff strengths. Recent activities have included netball, football, rugby, rounders, dance and playground games.
